This cocktail is fresh and vibrant with a warmth from the jalapeno. It is not spicy (this is coming from the girl that whines at too much black pepper). The jalapeno helps to completely cover the bleh alcohol taste. The juniper berry, peach, and jalapeno all work effortlessly to create a beautifully fresh, simple, and floral flavor. Even if you don’t normally like gin, I can promise this drink can change your mind. This is by far the most surprising drink I’ve ever created, I am in love!

Okay, so I know just last week I was talking up my Peach & Blueberry Whiskey Cocktail Recipe, but man is this one good. I wanted to use up the peach juice we got for that cocktail and Derek (the unofficial spice monster) always goes on and on about peppers. Welp, I just so happened to buy 15 jalapenos for jalapeno poppers and way overestimated how many I was willing to make, so, I had some peppers. I was working like crazy the last few weeks to prep some posts ahead of time and one of the recipes that was supposed to go up today did not turn out… great. I was desperately trying to find another recipe to replace that one and decided a drink was the easiest option. It was pretty easy to decide to put the peach and jalapeno together, but I didn’t want to just throw some tequila in there and call it a margarita. I wanted to be a little adventurous.
So at 10 in the morning last Saturday, I told Derek to make this drink (I was on a time crunch!). He was excited when I said peach and jalapeno and gave me a weirdly intrigued look as the word ‘gin’ left my mouth. We are not big gin drinkers. We have bought several different kinds and never liked what we came up with (gin is a strong flavor when you don’t like it). Derek went off into the kitchen, shook some stuff around, and brought back this. I was amazed at how effortlessly these flavors paired together.
I was still convinced that this was just a fluke and asked Derek to get some people at work to try it. To my astonishment almost everyone liked it! One person didn’t like it, but gin was that one alcohol for them (the one you get too drunk with and sick from, we all have one). So, if you are looking for something interesting to serve at your next party or you want to treat yourself to something jazzy, this is the recipe for you!
This cocktail is a bit tricky in proportions. If you add too much peach juice the balance between the juniper berry and peach gets off and is frankly not very good. Additionally, this drink is very light and refreshing, so ice can’t sit in it or it will also become… bleh. That’s why this is served with no ice in a martini glass.
Recipe
Peach and Jalapeno Gin Cocktail

A light and refreshing cocktail that is warming and floral.
Ingredients
- 4.5 oz peach juice (we used Simply’s Peach Juice)
- 1.5 oz gin (we used an American style and a London Dry, both were great.)
- 4-5 1/4″ (~1cm) fresh jalapeno slices
- Ice
Directions
1. Slice and seed. Slice the jalapeno into 1/4″ (~1cm) slices and take out the middle white membrane for easy deseeding. Thinly slice the jalapeno for optional garnish (see pictures)2. Shake Shake Shake. In a shaker filled 1/3 with ice add the seeded jalapeno slices and gin. Give the shaker a good long shake (30-60 seconds, the jalapeno slices will become obliterated).
3. Strain. Strain the gin and jalapeno mix into a martini glass to remove the jalapeno chunks and ice.
4. Add peach. Add the peach juice to the glass and give it a quick stir.
4. Enjoy! Finish the drink off with a jalapeno slice if you so desire.
That’s all folks! super easy drink and I’m very surprised this wasn’t already a drink because it’s delicious!
