Ladies and Gents, dust off your blender and put the kids to bed early! We’re gonna have some adult time (not that kind of adult time, I’m trying to be family friendly here) because we’re making MUDSLIDES as a MILKSHAKE. I hope your cheat day is today because you’re gonna need it. If you ain’t got plans to go shopping you better make some so you can pick up these ingredients and get your drink on (you’re my kinda person if you happen to have all ingredients on hand). This milkshake is delicious, boozy and pumped full of chocolate, what more could you want?

This recipe is easy, delicious, and oh-so-customizable. If you want more alcohol or chocolate, or half the glass to be whipped cream, more power to ya! Just please drink responsibly because I don’t want to see a video of any of you lovelies going viral because you did something stupid (Y’all better never be on r/holdmycosmo or r/holdmybeer). I really recommend having whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles as it made this shake that much more special. You gotta treat yourself once in a while and them sprinkles are less than a dollar.
Now, if you are familiar with the blog you’ll know that I have yet to be blessed with the adult tastebuds that blatantly ignore alcohol and often make this face when tasting anything that has a hint of it:
So while this recipe is Molly-approved, it was made by Derek-the-Bartender and therefore much more credible. I first tried this recipe just yesterday and it was ah-mazing! I couldn’t taste much of the alcohol, so if you’re like me and still make the above face when tasting alcohol, then this is a good recipe for you!
This recipe makes 16 oz of boozy chocolate goodness, so it is really easy to scale up and would be great for a night with friends or just by yourself (I ain’t judging, you do you). I wouldn’t recommend halving this recipe. I tried it and it ended up being more like the consistency of a thick chocolate milk than a shake. But hey, if you like chocolate milk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you are celiac, there are a few alcohols that will work with this. Here is a list of vodka brands that are completely grain-free (none of that “it’s been distilled” BS). For the Irish cream, try Carolan’s or Saint Brendan’s. Bailey’s and Brady’s Irish Cream is NOT safe. Watch out for sprinkles as lots can be exposed to cross contamination.

Classic Mudslide Milkshakes

A chocolate, boozy milkshake perfect with some greasy food and a hype and a half
Recipe Notes:
For a stronger beverage, feel free to double the alcohol, but it will make the shake less thick.
You can half the recipe for one serving, but the shake may be a bit less thick.
You can use just 2 cups of chocolate ice cream and skip the chocolate syrup.
Ingredients
Directions
- Place ingredients into a blender. Place the vodka, coffee liqueur, Irish cream, chocolate syrup, and vanilla ice cream into a blender.
- Blend all ingredients on low! Blending the ingredients on low will ensure that the ice cream remains thick and doesn’t become too soft or melty. It’ll take 1 minute for all ingredients to become blended.
- Enjoy. Pour into two 8 oz glasses (or one 16 oz glass 😉), top with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles (or don’t) and get your drink on!
